'Meles Meles'
Badgers | Part of the Mustelid family and one of Britains most recognised mammals, predominantly nocturnal, frustratingly difficult to photograph, but highly rewarding when everything comes together

My first image of a local badger using a DSLR camera trap

Some captures of the next generation. Many evenings were spent watching this young one going about its business, learning about its surroundings and generally just bumbling around.
I have many hours of trail cam footage from the past year, capturing some intimate, comical and everyday moments from their lives
One particular badger stole the limelight over the last 3 months of the 2021. This badger seems to have 2 setts that it frequents, divided by a small stream, but connected by highway of fallen trees. Surprisingly it seems to be an individual on its own (Trailcams have only picked up 2 badgers on a handful of occasions), venturing out alone during the autumnal nights.

A few more camera trap images from the past few months

Some head-on shots of the Badger on his favourite tree

Some of my favourite captures of the Badger, backlit in the rain

I have a few more ideas for 2022, but I can't wait until the nights get shorter and I can just enjoy watching these guys in daylight go about their business, hopefully there will be some new additions to the clan in the coming months...........
